MONETARY DONATIONS
Community partners can support the Western Line School District’s District of Innovation (DOI) through monetary donations made to the Community Foundation of Washington County. These funds directly support teacher recognition and staff development efforts. Donations are used to provide teacher awards and incentives, as well as meals during staff training sessions. This support helps improve teacher morale, strengthen professional learning, and maintain a high-quality instructional environment aligned with the district’s innovation goals.
VOLUNTEER
Community partners can support the District of Innovation by volunteering their time and experience. Volunteers can serve as guest speakers during “JA in a Day” events or visit Career Exploration classes to share their professional journey. These real-world connections help students understand career paths, build goals, and see how classroom learning connects to future success. This support strengthens the district’s focus on career readiness and student engagement.
WORK-BASED LEARNING
Community partners can support the District of Innovation by opening their businesses to 12th-grade students for Semester 2 internships or Work-Based Learning (WBL) placements. These opportunities give students hands-on experience in real work settings, helping them build job skills, responsibility, and confidence. This partnership directly connects classroom learning to career pathways and supports the district’s goal of preparing every student for college or the workforce.
OTHER WAYS
Community partners can support the District of Innovation in several flexible ways. Partners can serve as “resilience partners” by helping fill gaps if a vendor or grant changes, ensuring programs continue without disruption. They can also propose community service projects for students to lead, building leadership and responsibility. In addition, partners can participate in district job fairs to connect directly with students and share career opportunities. These efforts strengthen community ties and expand real-world learning experiences for all students.
